Fr. Georges Jahola already as a layman had a special attraction for the liturgy and the sacred chants in general, and in particular for the chants of the Syriac tradition. In 1983 he founded the choir "Asdiqa 'Yasua" (Friends of Jesus), still active, and he began to perfect his knowledge in the Syriac chants becoming pupil of experts and famous deacons in the city of Qaraqosh. He was supported by his father, a leading expert of the Syriac chant of his time. In 2016, he was appointed as a member of the working group for Sacred Music of the Syro-Catholic diocese of Mosul, Erbil and Kurdistan, for a project supported by the Foundation Laus Plena, Lugano (CH), aiming at the conservation and documentation of the Syriac sacred music heritage of Iraq.
