A memorable violin Masterclass at the Baghdeda House of Music, Iraq, by Maestro Christian Anzinger

Baghdeda, Ninive Plains, Iraq, 22-30 March 2025 - Professor Sam Salem so describes his experience of the violin Masterclass tought by Maestro Christian Anzinger:

"In an effort to develop the skills of the students at the Baghdeda House of Music, both for general educational purposes and as orchestra players, and with the support of the Laus Plena Foundation, we were very happy to welcome Professor Christian Anzinger at Erbil International Airport on March 22, 2025, at 1:30 am, with Polus Gajo. Maestro Christian Anzinger is an outstanding violinist and violin professor, and a frequent member of juries of international music competitions.

We then headed to our beloved city of Baghdeda, where Father Duraid Barbar welcomed us, and on the next morning, commenced an educational Masterclass, or workshop, that lasted eight days. It included lectures on solo playing and on ensemble playing.

At the end of the workshop, a concertwas held in the Syriac Eshoa Hidaya Hall, attended by the families of the participating student players and some music lovers from the town. The event was led by the director of the Baghdida House of Music, Professor Sam Salem, and Professor Christian Anzinger.

In conclusion, we can only express our deepest gratitude to the representative of the Laus Plena Foundation, Ms. Veronique Nebel, for her continuous support, to Polus Gajo for his tremendous efforts in organizing this workshop, and to Professor Christian Anzinger for his attendance, listening, and providing advice and expertise to the participating players. An extended thanks also goes to Father Duraid Barber for his ongoing communication and service to the music movement in Baghdeda.

Finally, we thank and express our appreciation to the Syriac Assembly Movement, represented by Professor John Hidaya, for their help in providing the venue for the rehearsals and the performance.
